The construction work will occur beneath the H-1 Viaduct and along Kahala Avenue, between 21st Street and Kilauea Avenue.
The Interstate Route H-1 Seismic Retrofit Waialae Viaduct involves upgrading the existing Waialae Viaduct concrete footings and concrete columns.
Scope of Work includes installing fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) fabric to the viaduct girder, beams, and columns, strengthening the column foundations with an additional concrete pilecap. This will require excavation at the footings of the column foundations to install concrete on the pilecap. Alternate detour routes will be needed for each area of construction.
No active work on site as of 7/14/2025.
